AbBlitz turns "I should really train my abs" into a plan you can follow without thinking. This guide walks through every screen, from the first setup questions to day 30, so you get the most out of the app from your very first workout.
Step 1: Answer the setup questions honestly
When you open AbBlitz for the first time, it asks a few short questions. Each answer changes the plan it builds, so it's worth taking a moment over them.
- Goal. Get a six pack, lose belly fat, tone your core, or simply build a daily habit. The goal shapes how the plan balances exercise types and volume.
- Fitness level. Beginner, intermediate or advanced. If you can't hold a plank for 30 seconds yet, pick beginner. You can always move up later.
- Equipment. No equipment, mat only, or full gym. "No equipment" keeps everything to body-weight moves you can do on any floor.
- Focus area. Overall core, lower belly, obliques and waist, or upper abs. The plan still trains your whole core, but it leans toward the area you pick.
- Time per day. 5, 10 or 15 minutes. Choose the time you can realistically protect every day, not the time you wish you had.
- Body type now and target. Simple pictures help the app understand where you're starting from and what you're aiming for.
Tip: if you're unsure between two levels, choose the easier one. Finishing every workout for a week builds more momentum than struggling through harder ones.
Step 2: Read your Today screen
After setup, the Today screen becomes your home base. At the top you'll see your week and phase (for example "Week 1 · Foundation"), then three tiles: the current day out of 30, today's minutes and an estimated calorie burn.
Below that is today's workout card: the main focus (such as obliques), the number of exercises and the estimated time. The list underneath shows every exercise with its sets, reps, target zone and difficulty. Days 7, 14, 21 and 28 are recovery days, and the screen tells you so.
Step 3: Press Start and follow along
The guided workout player is where AbBlitz earns its keep. For each exercise it shows:
- A demonstration image and the target area (upper abs, lower abs, obliques or core stability)
- The number of reps, or a hold timer for planks and static holds
- A short form tip, so you don't have to remember the instructions
- A rest countdown between sets
Tap Complete set when you finish, and the player moves on. You never have to decide what's next, which is exactly what makes short workouts easy to stick to. If you need to stop, you can exit and come back.
Step 4: Browse the exercise library
The Library tab holds all 169 abs and core exercises. Filter by area or difficulty, then open any exercise to see step-by-step instructions, sets, reps, time, an estimated calorie number and the equipment, primary target and secondary muscles. It's a good place to study a move before it shows up in your plan, or to look up the best ab exercises for a specific zone.
Step 5: Ask the AI coach
The AI Coach tab answers questions in plain language. Good questions are specific:
- "I feel crunches in my neck. What am I doing wrong?"
- "What should I eat in a day to lose belly fat?"
- "I missed two days. Should I repeat or keep going?"
The coach gives general fitness and nutrition guidance. It isn't a doctor, so check with a professional if you have pain, an injury or a medical condition. Read more about how AI fitness coaches work.
Step 6: Watch your progress
The Progress tab shows how far through the 30 days you are, your current and best streak, total calories and minutes, and a 30-day calendar. Done days turn green, rest days are marked, and the next day is highlighted. Seeing the calendar fill up is surprisingly motivating; our guide to staying consistent with workouts explains why.
Step 7: Adjust when life changes
Nothing is locked. If you buy an ab wheel, start going to a gym, or suddenly have only five minutes a day, open Settings, change your answers and regenerate the plan.
What's free and what's Pro
AbBlitz is free to download. AbBlitz Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks the guided workout player, full exercise details and unlimited AI coach conversations. Prices vary by country and are shown in the App Store before you subscribe. You can cancel any time in your Apple ID settings.
